A Marco Di Vaio hat-trick helped Serie A strugglers Bologna to a 5-2 win over Walter Novellino's Torino in his first game back in charge today.

The hosts, who came from behind twice to end a run of five straight draws under their new coach Sinisa Mihajlovic, jumped out of the drop zone and sent Torino down to third-from-bottom.

Torino's Simone Barone opened the scoring after seven minutes following Rolando Bianchi's flick-on.

Bologna's halftime substitute Sergio Volpi equalised three minutes after the break but the visitors were soon back in front through Ignazio Abate's deflected effort.

In-form striker Di Vaio levelled 10 minutes into the second half after Torino had failed to clear a corner and then netted his second goal with a confident finish just past the hour.

Marco Bernacci added a penalty in the 68th and Di Vaio converted another spotkick 11 minutes later after Francesco Pratali was sent off for bringing down Bernacci in the box.

Former Sampdoria boss Novellino, sacked by Torino in April, returned to the hot seat on Monday after Gianni De Biasi was dismissed.

Fourth-placed Napoli host Lecce later today while leaders Inter welcome bottom side Chievo tomorrow before Juventus and Milan, who are joint-second, meet in Turin.
