Maltese singer wins Swedish Idol contest
Maltese singer Kevin Borg won the Swedish Pop Idol final yesterday evening before a crowd of 15,000 people at the Globe Arena in Stockholm.
His victory came a year to the day since he left Malta to live in Sweden with his girlfriend Sofia. That was all the time it took him to learn Swedish and sing his way into Swedish hearts.
Some 8,000 contestants had entered the Swedish Idol contest.
Another Maltese, Nathalie Gauci, won the Australian Idol contest in November last year.

That's right, Kevin is too good to be restricted to Malta. While millions of people have fallen in love with him in Sweden, all we hear in Malta is the usual bickering of politicians over our usual petty issues.
I was sad to see Kevin go, but now that I've seen the Maltese media's ignorance of his success, I am convinced that he made the right choice.

The Maltese proverb "Baqra tajba tinbiegh pajjizha." obviously does not apply to Malta.
Kevin is not mediocre enough to be successful in Malta. Congratulations.
