When Joseph Muscat replied to the Budget Speech, he made 15 specific proposals on energy saving and energy efficiency related issues. One of these was that incandescent bulbs should be banned.

All of these proposals were either ignored or rubbished by the government. We have now just come to learn that the EU has agreed to ban such bulbs within four years.

Although to be fair, before being formally adopted by the Commission, the proposal still needs the European Parliament ratification to move forward, as the report in The Times mentioned the proposal has been virtually endorsed already by EU member states.

That obviously includes Malta which originally rubbished the Joseph Muscat proposal.
