Sliema enjoyed the better start but their attacks were being ably controlled by the White Hart defence.

On 16 minutes, Sliema were awarded a penalty stroke when Simon Agius stopped the ball on the fatal line irregularly following a short corner action. Shawn Mifsud made no mistake from the spot.

This goal brought a bold reaction from White Hart. After missing a couple of chances, they drew level through a short corner from which Luke Borg Costanzi flicked the ball over Sliema custodian Luke Mallia.

Within minutes, Sliema had again taken the lead through Mifsud.

On the stroke of half-time, White Hart won a short corner and for the second time in the match, Borg Costanzi drove the ball into the net to make it 2-2.

As the second half got underway, White Hart might have forged ahead but a good move between Borg Constanzi and Tua ended with a fine save by Mallia only for Sandro Bartolo to miss the target from the rebound.

This was an entertaining game to watch as both sides played with great determination.

After six minutes, Young Stars could have nosed in front had it not been for a timely tackle on Hughes who was neatly set up by Micallef.

A minute later, Rabat's Josef Antonelli saw his point-blank effort being saved by Brandon Sant.

Young Stars' failure to take their early chances was punished by Rabat who took the lead on 27 minutes. From a short corner action, Jason Vella tapped home.

Young Stars dominated the opening stages of the second half. Rabat's Kevin Micallef denied them an equaliser with two goal-line clearances.

From another short corner, Micallef managed to clear off the line the first attempt at goal only for Christian Bonello to stab in the rebound.
