No, I am not living in cuckoo land. Even I need something from abroad, I order it online and I receive it within a week....It is so simple. You know, in the eighties we used to go to Sicily to buy toothpaste and choclate.( i have still got snapshots of an Italian bloke selling choclate and toothpaste at the ferry from a white Fiat 124) ...Not a big deal....And if you were lucky you could buy a colour TV also....

Whenever the N.S.O. publishes the official statistics it gives a shock to all moaners and whiners and to those prophets of doom who only see imaginary black clouds on the horizon.. Despite these figures in black and white they persist in their endeavour to sow the seeds of discontent and fear. They never learn that such methods are only good for the gullible and have not brought them their long awaited wish.

Are you living in cuckoo land?
Ask the people presently going abroad to buy and you will get your answer.

Government employees have long been coming and going to Brussels. What mediocre reasoning!! Maltese go abroad to buy things because they are cheaper!! This line of reasoning would be fine if taken back 25 years. Be objective ,why don't one call a spade a spade. I am not exculpating this government of any shortcomings. Far from it as this list would be endless, but one has to be objective when analysing the way things are.

Do not forget the hundreds of government employees who have to travel every day to Brussels and other places on eu-related work.
Moreover, people go not only for holidays but also to buy things because while enjoying a holiday they will also still be better off when they buy from other countries than if they bought them in Malta.
In other words, they travel to BUY things and it still comes cheaper then buying them from Malta.

If you honestly believe that we are not in a recession because there were people who traveled more in October when compared to last year sorry to say that you are living in an illusion. Some famous car companies like Peugeot told their work that from next January they will work on a four day week basis. After the upcoming feast unfortunately to say that a major building contractor will fire 300 workers. Hope that this will not happen but today I was shocked with this news.

Where are all the doomers and gloomers? The high increase in Maltese travelling abroad is a clear indication that there is still much more money in their pockets that they could afford to travel. Low-cost and no low-cost, they still managed to go abroad even in unusual periods. The Maltese are wise and know how to enjoy themselves. At the same time they buy all they want at a cheaper price.

first of all UK and ITALY trips are not really holidays and the fact that maltese travel more due the lack of space in malta and to feel the real world
people that live on mainland europe see nothing different when they go to other countries
they have it all
long highways forests bridges trains huge department stores etc
when i lived in australia and went to the USA for a holiday i did not see any thing different but now that i live in malta and travel abroad as soon as the plane starts to land the defference is clear
