Malta should be an environmental leader
Malta needed to be a leader in environmental measures, opposition leader Joseph Muscat said this morning.
Speaking during a visit to Titan, a Mizzi Organisation company which has a photovoltaic installation, Dr Muscat said the company was creating green jobs. Such decisions helped improve the environment and contributed towards the placing of the economy on sound environmental foundations.
He referred to the budget speech and said that a scheme such as that announced to help people install such panels should not be a one-time scheme. He appealed to the government to increase the budget for this scheme for more people and companies to benefit from it.

Malta is already leading on environmental issues and this could be proved by the various incentives given for the 2009 budget, which has been dubbed a green budget

The decision by the Mizzi Organisation to install photovoltaic panels is to be lauded. I wonder whether they would consider not importing any more cars on this heavily congested island and thereby make a greater contribution towards a greener environment.
