The Criminal Court has fined a number of people the total of €10,322 for occupational health and safety breaches.

The Occupational Health and Safety Authority said in a statement that two 27-year-old men were fined a total of €1,366 for failing to safeguard their own safety and that of others who could be affected with the work they were doing.

Directors of hotels and other tourism establishments were fined €5,262 for a number of shortcomings.

In separate cases, four people were fined a total of €1,862 for not appointing someone to examine and certify a lift at the work place.

Another four people working in the construction industry were fined €1,864 for not safeguarding the health and safety of employees and all who could be affected by the work being carried out.
