Video: Updated: Man accused of importing ecstasy pills
45-year-old Tony Herbert Walroud this morning pleaded not guilty to conspiring to import and importing some 10,000 ecstasy pills that were found in his possession on his arrival in Malta during a joint operation involving customs officers and the police between Wednesday and yesterday.
The man, who is from Curacao but lives in The Netherlands, was remanded in custody. He was arrested when he flew in from Brussels. The pills were hidden in his luggage.
This was the biggest single find of ecstasy pills this year.

Obviously such arrests by the police are praiseworthy. However, without making reference to this particular case, I'd like to point out that I am still puzzled as to why the police dont try to track down the people to which such drugs are to be distributed. I doubt that these drugs are directly sold to people for their own personal use. I assume that people who import large doses of drugs would go on to sell the drugs to pushers - and I think that the police, by stopping the crime @ the airport, are missing out on a great opportunity to apprehend other criminals.
Nevertheless, thumbs up for the police and customs officers

Good show. Both the customs and the police should be congratulated with such a good job completed.

There is no "but" here re the nationality, people from Curacao are Dutch and hold an EU passport, however the island claims to be "drugs-free" that is no drugs are allowed at all in contrast to other parts of the Dutch Kingdom.

My well done to all those involved in this operation. God knows what harm those pills would have caused.
