The EuroSport National Junior Championships have been a regular feature on Badminton Malta's seasonal calendar for several years and are eagerly awaited by the emerging junior talents within its ranks.
This event enables them to gauge their progress on a national scale while motivating them to achieve higher standards.
Badminton Malta recently organised the U-13 and U-16 categories of this national event at the Cottonera Sports Complex.
Owen Grech won the U-13 boys' title. In the final, he beat Luigi Grech 21-12 21-14.
Defending champion Lisa Formosa retained her U-13 girls' title when she prevailed over Clarissa Grech 21-4 21-13 in the final.
The U-16 boys' singles turned out to be a family affair in which Andrew Sammut had the better of his brother Daniel 21-15 21-12 in the final.
The Sammut brothers then went on to clinch the U-16 doubles title by winning the final 21-10 21-14 against Luigi Grech/Max Schroeder.
Daniela Galea won the U-16 girls' singles after beating Dominique Francica in two sets with an identical score 21-14 21-14.
Francica made up for that setback by teaming up with her sister Catriona to take the U-16 doubles title.
The Francica sisters won their final over Formosa/Atlanta Cochrane 21-10 21-10.
