A 25-year-old man was fined €2,800 today after a court found him guilty of driving without insurance, and keeping his vehicle in a bad state of repair.

He was however found not guilty of seriously injuring a minor in an accident in January 2005.

The court heard how Logan Wood had been driving along Dawret It-Tunnarra in Mellieha when he had a collision with a minor on a bicycle. The boy was seriously injured. The court took into consideration that both the boy and the man had bad brakes on their vehicles. From the evidence produced it was evident that the man had not been driving dangerously but still had to answer for the bad condition of his car.

He was therfore found not guilty of seriously injuring the boy when driving negligently but guilty of driving without a licence and keeping the vehicle in a bad state of repair.
