Obituary

BRIFFA. On December 9, at Mater Dei Hospital, JOSEPH of Birkirkara (ex-Assistant Band Master, Duke of Connaught Band Club, Birkirkara, and ex-clarinetist), aged 74, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his sisters and brother, Beatrice and her husband Alfred Napier, Mary and her husband John Laudi, Gemma and her husband Arthur Vassallo, Eileen and her husband Manuel Abela, Albert and his wife Jane, Rita and Frank Giordmaina Medici, his aunt Carmen Parnis, nephews, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 9 a.m. for Sacro Cuor parish church, Sliema, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 9.30 a.m., followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

CAMILLERI. On December 8, LILIAN, née Church, aged 80, widow of Louis, passed away peacefully at St James Capua Court Residence, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her son Ray and his wife Odette, her daughters Valerie and Pamela, her grandchildren Petra, Justine and Karl, her sister Maria, her brother Henry and his wife Lina, her sisters-in-law Antida Church and Edmea Camilleri, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. Mass praesente cadavere will be said today at 2.15 p.m. at Lija parish church followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to The Eden Foundation, Bulebel, will be appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

GALEA. On December 8, at Mater Dei Hospital, ROSE of Sliema, aged 76, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Raymond and Clemente, her brothers Charlie and Johnny, in-laws, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 1.30 p.m. for Sacro Cuor parish church, Sliema, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2 p.m., followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

He leaves to mourn his loss his children, Mary and her husband GiomBattista Gabriele, Joseph and his wife Tessie, Saviour and his wife Dorothy, Anna and her husband Mario Abela, Marthese and her husband Carmelo Farrugia, Victor and his wife Marisa, Rita and her husband Gaetano Conti, Paul and his wife Anna Marie, great-grandchildren, relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 2.30 p.m. for Our Lady of Sorrows chapel, Farsons Street, Ħamrun, where Mass praesente cadavere will be celebrated at 3 p.m., followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 2.45 p.m. for Mosta Rotunda, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 3.15 p.m., followed by interment at Mosta cemetery. Sculptor Joseph Casha will be delivering a presentation on the development of British and Maltese sculpture tomorrow at the School of Art at 106, Old Bakery Street, Valletta at 6 p.m.

Kit Kat competition

Elaine Camilleri has won a €500 voucher from clothes shop Esprit courtesy of Nestle's Kit Kat Senses competition, the latest addition to the Kit Kat range of products. The award was presented by Bay Radio morning breakfast show presenters Jonathan Abel and Elinor Barbara.

Choral concert in aid of hospice

The Collegium Musicum Choir, St John's Co-Cathedral's resident choir, will be giving a concert in aid of the Hospice Movement at the co-cathedral on December 19 at 7.30 p.m. Entrance is free, but any donations collected will go towards the hospice.

Sliema bazaar

A bazaar will be held at the Sliema Band Club, situated in front of the Church of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, on Saturday and Sunday between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.

Literary evening

The literary group Vers Agħtini and the Vittoriosa council will be holding a literary evening at Couvre Porte Hall, Vittoriosa, on Friday between 6.30 and 8.30 p.m.

Concert at Balzan

Soprano Marita Bezzina and tenor Aldo Busuttil will be singing at the annual vocal and instrumental concert at the Balzan parish church on Sunday at 7 p.m. The concert will feature a variety of classical arias and traditional Christmas carol music. They will be accompanied by three prominent musicians, James Zammit (violin), Gilmour Peplow (cello) and Lydia Buttigieg (musical director, pianist and harpist). Entrance is free.
