I am a bus owner, so the reform in public transport will hit me and my family hard. My husband drives the bus and I know for a fact that he treats all the passengers with respect. I know that some drivers are rude but you can't put everyone in the same basket. And it works both ways: what about those passengers who treat the drivers with total disrespect?
Austin Gatt says that the drivers don't enjoy good working conditions and I agree with him fully. But I want to remind him that it was his government that for 20 years has been putting off the projects that need to be done in the Valletta terminus.
When he says that the buses aren't up to standard, again I say that not all of the buses are like that. If he wants a change, he can change the ones that aren't good but not all of them. In this country we either don't do a thing for 10 years or else we want to do everything at one go.
I remind him as well that we invested a lot of money in our bus. Something else I want to mention is that the bus fare in Malta is the cheapest in the EU; that's what statistics show.
