The Malta Canoe Racing Club (maltacanoeracing.org) was officially inaugurated in Msida a few weeks ago. The club is the first in Malta to break out on its own right, raising the bar with regards to flatwater kayak racing.

The MCRC was inaugurated by Malta Canoe Federation president Julian Mamo. He spoke of the pioneering spirit of Christopher Camilleri (president), Ryan Schembri (treasurer), Nicola Borg Costanzi (secretary), Christopher Borg Costanzi and Matthew Schembri who invested their own money, hard work and time in developing the sport they love.

Maltese Olympic Committee president Lino Farrugia Sacco was also present for the opening.

The new club aims to provide canoeists, beginners and experienced, with the training grounds needed to practise the sport professionally. Besides gym equipment, members wil be provided with Olympic Class kayaks donated by the Hungarian Canoe Federation earlier this year.
