Qormi man, 77, robbed at home
A 77-year-old man suffered the fright of his life this evening when two hooded men barged into his home in Main Street, Qormi, demanding money.
They escaped with an amount of cash and some jewellery, the police said. The incident happened at about 7 p.m.
Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera is holding an inquiry.

Old people living at home should be given more civic support by the authorities while harsher penalties should be introduced against such vile attacks which are on the increase.

Let's get these cowboys and give them a long jail term, maybe it will be a deterrent to other would be thieves. Picking on defenceless old people, and at Christmas time too. Shame on you!!

"Brave" might be the right word!! Who knows, it could be that we'll end up applauding these same guys some time in the not too distant future for their "courage" in kicking the drug habit and obtaining some diploma or other!!!! Don't forget that THEY are the victims. That's why the State digs into the coffer to help them. And the poor old man? Ah well, sympathy and commiseration come free!!!!!

This is the fourth such attack by hooded men in the Southern Malta area reported in the last fortnight, they always seem to be after easy targets and most reports say they are armed, I do hope these thugs are caught before they kill someone.

Could these 2 hooded hoodlums be the same two losers that did the hold up last week and used the same gun and the same masks to terrorize another victim? These losers must know their victims and know where to find the money. If somebody has any clue as to who these guys might be hope you have enough guts to call the police, I'm sure they can keep you anonymous..

shame on those idiot cowards that robbed the poor old man...that shows the kind of society we re living in at the moment...can the authorities do some thing urgently about this new development of hoodlums and drug addicts roming our streets and targeting on our elderly persons...this is really shameful to be heard of......

Attacks of this sort are bad enough but for these cowards to pick on the old and the infirm is beyond the pale. These brave fellows will be after children's pocket money next.
