Some months back I wrote to this paper to bring to the attention of the authorities that an area behind Harmony Kiosk on the Qawra promenade was being used as a toilet facility complete with a toilet roll hanging in the bushes.

I would like to commend the new owner/operator of the Harmony Kiosk who willingly took the initiative and at the outset installed a portable toilet at his own expense. The new owner/s also went to the trouble and cleared/rehabilitated the open toilet site behind this kiosk.

Although this facility does not measure up to the new ultra luxurious toilets built near the Sirens Water Polo Pitch, it is still an acceptable facility for use by the public as well as the kiosk's clientele.

While I hope that the new owner/s will be given all the assistance required to keep this facility, I also hope that the usual red tape will not run riot. If only there were more public spirited and enterprising entrepreneurs who are not just concerned with how much cash they are putting in their cash registers but also with providing a service that will contribute to this area's general upkeep.

Let us now hope that the other establishments in the area will follow suit.
