Obituary

AGIUS. On December 7, at Mater Dei Hospital, ANNA MARIA, from Floriana, aged 54, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of the Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her mother Yvonne, her brothers and sisters Joe and his wife Tarcisia, Tania and her husband Charles, Doreen and her husband Marcel, Adrian and his wife Marisa, Jesmond and his wife Sandra, Peter and his wife Lorraine, uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. May she rest in peace. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 2 p.m. for St Publius church in Floriana, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m. followed by interment at Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi will be greatly appreciated.

CAMILLERI. On December 5, at Mater Dei Hospital, EDWIGE, widow of Roger Camilleri, mother of George and his wife Mary, Mary and her husband Joseph Attard, Joseph and his wife Connie, David and his wife Doris, Edith and her husband Lino Friggieri, Alfred and his wife Jill, and Alfred Spiteri, widower of her daughter Magdelene, her 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 8 a.m. for Our Lady of Lourdes parish church, San Ġwann, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8.30 a.m. followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata cemetery.

GRECH. On December 6, at Mater Dei Hospital, RITA of Cospicua residing at Marsascala, aged 73 years, passed away peacefully. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband Joe, her children Charmaine and her husband Joseph, Vince and his wife Mariella, Catherine and her husband Salvu, Charlie and his wife Louise, grandchildren Owen, Ryan, Alistair, Hanah and Ruth, her brother Manuel and her sister Mary, nephews and nieces, in-laws, other relatives and friends. The funeral service will be said today at 11.30 a.m. in The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Marsa. At 12.45 p.m. the funeral cortege leaves Mater Dei Hospital to Mosta cemetery for interment. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

GRIMA. On December 6, at her residence in St Julians, ROSE MARIE, aged 69, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of the Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband Emmanuel, her children Carina and her husband Pierre, and Tyrone, her grandchildren Ben and Dale, her sisters Mary, Josephine and Rita and her brothers Lorry, Lino and Dominic, in-laws, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei hospital on Wednesday at 9 a.m. for Sacro Coeur parish church in Sliema, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 9.30 a.m. followed by interment at the Addolorata Cemetry. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi would be greatly appreciated. Lord grant her eternal rest.

Feast of St Nicholas

Some 750 students in their third year at 15 different schools will be meeting at the Siġġiewi parish church tomorrow to celebrate the feast of St Nicholas of Bari.

Christians have been celebrating the day for centuries, and St Nicholas is considered to be the patron of children - because he helped the poor and needy, he has evolved into a sort of Santa Claus.

Students will be donating some of their own toys to children living in Bolivia.

Night hike with Jesuits

The Jesuits are organising a night hike leading to a boat ride to St Paul's Island, where prayers will be said on Friday. Youths are to meet at Manikata Church at 6.30 p.m. Tickets cost €10 or €12 with transport back and are available by phoning Fr Jimmy Bartolo on 9928 1101 or Fr Michael Bugeja on 7900 1241.
