Melita telephony customers have now gained access to all free phone numbers following the review of the framework for freephone services in the 800 range. Similarly, fixed-line users on third party networks can now call freephone numbers registered on Melita's network.

This scenario also facilitates the hosting of free phone numbers as Melita and the other fixed-line operator can both host these numbers.

"We are continuously working to develop our services, including fixed-line digital telephony, to fit the needs of our customers," Melita marketing manager for internet and telephony Jonathan Dalli explains. "This decision on freephones reinforces that commitment and provides added benefits to well over 50,000 subscribers connected to Melita's fixed-line network. Melita's fixed-line telephony has been experiencing steady growth in subscriptions thanks to our cheapest fixed-line call-rates."
