Obituary
CEFAI. On December 3, at Mater Dei Hospital, JOSEPH GEORGE (ex-Central Bank), of Sliema, aged 85, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his caring wife Maria née Sidoti, his only devoted son Dr Renato Cefai and his wife Louise, his loving grandchildren Dr Adriano and Dr Clarissa, his brothers, sisters and in-laws Mary Naudi, Carmen, Anne Demajo, Maurice, Victor and Ione, John and Isabel, Paul and Mabel, Tony and Helen, Marlene, Melita, Gaetano and Giovanna, Emma, Francesco and Gloria, nephews and nieces. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 9 a.m. for St Gregory's parish church, Sliema, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 9.30 a.m., followed by interment in the family grave at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.
HUBBERS. On December 4, at Mater Dei Hospital, ELLIE, aged two months two weeks, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her parents Marcel and Audrey née Suda, her sisters Emma and Kate, her grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins and relatives. Messa degli Angeli will be said today at 9.15 a.m. at St Julians parish church. Lord, grant her eternal rest.
SAMMUT. On December 3, at her home in Mosta and in the loving arms of her family, FRANCESCA née Micallef, aged 85, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her irreparable loss her husband Lawrence, her son Charles and his wife Winnie, her daughters Rosalie and her husband Mario Cassar, Mavonia and her husband Peter Thake, and Cynthia, her grandchildren Jan-Luc, Eva-Martina, Mario, Nadia, Andrew, Robert, Christine and Keeron, her sisters Manuela and Rita, nephews and nieces, in-laws, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves her home today at 2.45 p.m. for Mosta parish church where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 3 p.m., followed by interment in the family grave at Mosta cemetery. Donations to the LifeCycle Organisation will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

ZAMPA. On December 5, at Sir Paul Boffa Hospital, JOSEPH of Valletta, widower of Mary née Ancilleri, aged 79, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his sons Mario and Nadia and Tonio and Sally, his grandchildren Stefano, Oriana and Dario, his brother and sister Frank and his wife Rina and Doris and her husband Robert, in-laws, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Sir Paul Boffa Hospital today at 1.30 p.m. for St Augustine parish church, Valletta, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2 p.m., followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

The University Chaplaincy will be holding an ecumenical service at the university quadrangle on Wednesday at 12.30 p.m.
Gozo Youth Band
The Gozo Youth Wind Band and Orchestra will be performing at the Don Bosco Oratory, Victoria, next Saturday at 8 p.m. They will then be performing at the Arkadia Shopping Mall grounds in Victoria on December 14 between 6 and 7 p.m. and at St George's Square, Victoria, on December 21 at 8 p.m.
Crib competition
The St Paul Socio-Cultural Institute (ISKSP) is organising a competition for the best crib and Baby Jesus for residents of St Paul's Bay, Qawra, Buġibba, Xemxija, Pwales and Burmarrad. Entries will be judged on December 19 by members of the Friends of the Crib Society and winners will receive a diploma from ISKSP during a presentation ceremony on December 30 at the institute's cultural centre. Application forms are available from the parish churches of these localities or from ISKSP member Vincent Agius, who can be contacted on 2157 1865. Applications must be in by December 18.
Christmas Exhibition
The Exhibitions Society of the St Joseph the Worker parish in Birkirkara is holding a Christmas exhibition at 71, Bwieraq Street, Birkirkara, from tomorrow to January 1 from 5 to 8 p.m. on weekdays and from 9 a.m. to noon and 4.30 to 8 p.m. on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.
Bazaar at the Waterfront
The philanthropic organisation AX Foundation will hold a bazaar from today until Monday at the Valletta Waterfront.
Stalls will be manned by non-governmental organisations and two schools. While all proceeds will go directly to the respective NGOs, money raised by the schools will be going towards a cause established by the students.
Most items on sale, some of which are new, have been donated by faithful supporters and generous contributors. These and many other surplus goods and gifts have been handed over to the participants and will be on sale at bargain prices.
Video contest
The United States Department of State has launched an interactive video contest entitled My Culture + Your Culture = ? - Share Your Story and is inviting all those aged 14 and over to submit videos, no longer than three minutes, containing any form of artistic expression including, but not limited to, dance, spoken word, poetry and song.
Videos will be judged on originality, creativity, effectiveness and production quality by a panel of judges.
Two winning videos from each of the two age group categories, 14 to 17 years-old and 18-years-old and over, will be prominently featured on the Exchanges Connect social network and their producers will receive a two-week all expenses paid cultural exchange to the US. The contest is open until January 26 and the winners will be announced on March 16. Further information is available at http://connect.state.gov/.
