Nine of the 11 Maltese who had been stranded in Thailand arrived in Malta yesterday, the Foreign Ministry said.

Two other Maltese, accompanied by their Thai wives, are on their way.

Meanwhile, a Maltese with whom no previous contact had been established was traced to Jakarta and will be returning next week, the ministry said.

Bangkok's airports had been paralysed for a week by anti-government protestors until the blockade was lifted on Tuesday.

Foreign Affairs Minister Tonio Borg said the situation in Bangkok remained confusing, although airport operations were returning to normal.
