Malta Judo Federation (MJF) president Envic Galea has been re-elected as general secretary of the European Judo Union (EJU).
Galea, whose involvement with the EJU stretches back to 1991 when he was elected as assistant general secretary in Athens, gained a second four-year term as secretary during the EJU's annual congress, held last week in the Greek capital.
Galea's re-election makes him the longest-serving member on the EJU executive committee. It also means that the secretariat office of the EJU will remain in Malta for another four years, a statement by the MJF said.
This office, run by Louisa Galea and Alexis Milne, is responsible for the day-to-day running of the EJU, including the organisation of directing committee meetings and congresses, managing daily correspondence between the 50 member federations, and assisting the various commissions within the EJU in co-ordinating more than 100 events during the calendar year.
