A shot or shots were fired when a confectioner was held up this morning in Zejtun, the police said.
The incident happened in the early morning as the confectioner was about to open his shop in Bishop Emm Galea Street.
He was approached by a a hooded, armed man who demanded money while an accomplice waited in a car.
During the incident a shot or shots were fired but no one was hurt.
The thieves took the money and escaped in the car, which was abandoned soon after in Zejtun itself.
The police said the haul did not exceed €2,000.
