Nicholas Sammut has received the Outstanding Young Person of the Year Award.

The award, presented by the Junior Chamber International, recognises those individuals under the age of 40 who excel in their chosen field and exemplify the best attributes of young people.

Dr Sammut is an electrical engineer holding three research posts at the European Organisation of Nuclear Research in Switzerland. He designed a critical control system that enables the largest worldwide scientific instrument known as a particle accelerator to function.
