Man charged over porn DVD showing minor
A 27-year-old man was charged with circulating pornographic DVDs featuring an underage Maltese girl.
Sacha Spiteri, of Fgura, is facing charges of making copies and circulating a DVD labelled Malta Four-Star in November 2006 that allegedly contained pornographic footage and featured the minor.
He was also charged with breaching copyright laws when he made copies of the film. Mr Spiteri, who is also charged with relapsing, claims he was not aware of the content of the DVD and is pleading not guilty.
Police Inspector Raymond Aquilina prosecuted.
Lawyers Vince Micallef and Andy Ellul represented Mr Spiteri.

@Deo.
The prosecution is bringing the most serious charge it can against this person, probably in the hope that he would turn State's evidence to find the producer.

Actually it is not true that you need to register something to have the copyright: just affirming this right is sufficient if the work is yours. However, it does seem rather like doing Al Capone for tax evasion:

If I'm not mistaken, in order to have a copyright you must first register your product!!!!

Instead of charging the guy who made the copying (he'll be dealt with later of course) has the so called 'producer' been traced and charged? 'cos it seems that authorities are more concerned about the breaching of copyright than the use of an underaged girl for adult stuff. Nowhere is the maker of the DVD mentioned but only the man who copied/circulated it.

I wonder who is the copyright owner of this porno DVD? Will he be filing a claim for compensation???
