Four Ghanaians who came to Malta illegally six months ago will be back at their homeland by this evening where they will start a new life by setting up a business.
The men have chosen to voluntarily return to Ghana through the Ministry for Foreign Affairs' project Dar that, by next month, would have settled 70 illegal immigrants back to their countries.
Since the men landed in Malta illegally on a boat, six months ago, they have been detained at the Safi detention centre. The government is paying for their flights home and the EU is giving them €5,000 each to set up a business at home.
Paul Gyasi and his friend Charles Bonsu came to Malta together in search for a better life and now, they say, they will be returning to Ghana to start that better life with the help of the money given to them by the EU.
Mr Gyasi, who previously worked as a driver, will now be able to expand his business together with his friend. Patrick Dankwah Appiah is planning on expanding his mechanic business to sell spare parts. The fourth man, Peter Jima, will also be joining this three co-patriots on the flight home. They are expected to land in Ghana this evening, at about 9.30 p.m., after flying through Tripoli.
