The HSBC National Dinghy Championships 2008, which had been postponed due to inclement weather, have been rescheduled for next Sunday and Monday.

There has also been a change of venue as the races will now be held in Mellieħa instead of Birżebbuġa.

This switch is intended to give the young Maltese sailors participating in the forthcoming Euromed Championships 2008, (December 17-21) an opportunity to race and practise in the Euromed 'arena'.

The Adira Sailing Centre will be the Race Office for the championships, to be contested by sailors in seven different classes.

These are the Optimist Junior Class, the Optimist Cadet Class, the Optimist Novice Class, the Laser 4.7, Laser Radial, the Laser Standard and the Mirror Dinghies. Registration begins on Sunday at 8.30 a.m.

The championships, sponsored for the third consecutive year by HSBC Bank Malta are organised by the Malta Sailing Federation.

The race officer for the event will be Jovin Rausi while Anna Rossi will be running the race office with Peter Valentino heading the jury which also includes Godwin Zammit.
