Eleven Maltese nationals trapped in Thailand after anti-government protestors blocked the Bangkok airport are being provided with alternative travel arrangement by the Foreign Affairs Ministry.

The ministry said arrangements have been made for all except two Maltese married to Thai women and another Maltese who had not yet been contacted.

The ministry said efforts to make arrangements for the two couples were continuing while the other Maltese did not appear to be in the Bangkok area.

Meanwhile, it was reported yesterday that the occupation of the airport has ended and the first international flights will be operated to Bangkok today.

However, clearing the backlog of passengers could take some time.
