Malta-Gozo water traffic

From 1997 to date the Water Services Corporation transferred 3,155,702 cubic metres of water between Malta and Gozo.

There were no transfers of water between Gozo and Malta over the same period, except for 11,967 cubic metres on two occasions when the Ċirkewwa reverse osmosis plant was inoperative for long-term maintenance.

Answering a parliamentary question by Anton Refalo (PL), Infrastructure Minister Austin Gatt said the transferred water had not been blended in Malta because it had all been produced by reverse osmosis at Ċirkewwa. Water pumped through the Malta-Gozo pipeline was deposited in the reservoirs at Ta' Ċenċ and Xagħra.

The distiller at Ħondoq ir-Rummien stopped operating a number of years ago.
