ADT receives applications for open top buses and trackless trains
The Malta Transport Authority (ADT) has received applications for the issue of permits for the operation of open top buses and trackless trains.
The Infrastructure Ministry is presently in the process of issuing new policies to govern the whole unscheduled public transport sector, which policies will cover coaches, including but not limited to open top, mini-vans, taxis, white, black and electric, as well as trackless trains.
All these different modes of unscheduled public transport impact each other as well as private and public scheduled transport and the relative regulation has to be seen holistically.
It is expected that this policy will be in place by the first quarter of 2009 and consequently the ministry has instructed the ADT not to process the said applications until the policy is in place.

Can someone be more original please. Why does'nt somebody come up with an original idea to boost the public transport for locals rather than targetting visitors and occasional users.

I would like to point out that regarding the trackless trains I have submitted the tender at the same time when the one for the Rabat Route was submitted. My tender process is not yet closed and is still in progress. So ADT cannot start processing any new applications on the Bugibba Route regardless whether the ministry have set a new policy or not.
Mr. Borg and Mr. Portelli I do not lack creativity, I have been discusssing trackless train operations with ADT for the past nine years so I am not one of the Hmar ta Bendu as I was the first one to get this train to Malta.

Or maybe it will be suffient and cheap enough that all you whom just have words here, Might encourage you to begin to use it and leave your car of the road.
(I dont use any car, just my bike and Public Trasnport)

Maybe these vehicles will not be motor driven, but pulled by horses, this to speed up the traffic flow.
