@ deb bugeja. No Govt has ever succeeded to exercise control on the self employed workers . They earn good money and it is their discretion how much they declare. I think that you like any one else had occasion to use the service of these persons like doctors, plumbers, house decorators, mechanics etc. So i cannot understand how you come to defend abuse of these people. While employed workers have to carry all the burden?

This is evidence enough that enforcement is not one the the strong points of this Govt. What about vat? Are these people in arrears in vat too? What will happen with their pension when these people come of age? What will happen if these people decide to wind up their business? How will the Govt collect this money? And then we are faced with more taxes because Govt is short of money.

the NI contribution for the very small employed who earns roughly 100euros weekly have to pay around 24euros weekly. i think it should be revised.
considering the decline in sales, and electricity and water tariffs of course there will be NI in arrears

Small earning self employed who earns around 100euros weekly have to pay the government around 24euros in NI conributions. I think it is very high for these kind of working after considering the decline in sales, and charges in electricity and water tariffs.
I just wonder those people in profession how much they pay when they don t even give you a receipt for their extreme priced service
