With Melita set to launch Melita Mobile in February, prospective subscribers are able to book their preferred number online at http://www.melita.com or by calling at one of the Melita stores in Naxxar, The Embassy in Valletta, Arkadia in Gozo, all Maltapost outlets or any Melita reseller. Melita Mobile has been assigned a mobile number range with a '77' prefix.
Malta's third mobile operator, Melita Mobile is promising cheaper call rates in a "simple and transparent price structure", saying it will eliminate expensive monthly mobile bills and complicated tariffs.
This month, Melita is rolling out themobile service to more than 400 internal customers, partners, their families and friends who will be acting as 'ambassadors' by living the life of mobile customers.
"Our mobile network employs the latest 3G technology and will provide full nationwide coverage from day one," Melita chief operations officer Stephen Wright said. "We have invested €40 million to build a fully-fledged 3G mobile network using the latest technology. We are not an MVNO and our promise to be cheaper is a long-term commitment, not just a limited-time offer. We are here to stay."
The company has embarked on a programme to open new stores: the first has opened at GS Supermarket in Naxxar and another will open shortly in Msida, next to the University roundabout. The outlets at The Embassy in Valletta and in Arkadia Gozo will continue to offer all Melita services and products, including mobile-related services.
Melita says it is the only local home entertainment and telecommunications provider to employ a convenient single billing system which integrates all four services offered by Melita in one monthly bill: telephony, internet, TV and mobile.
"Besides gaining from considerable savings on mobile bills, Melita Mobile customers can also benefit from packages when subscribing to all four services," Melita Mobile marketing manager Alison Bezzina explains.
