Ministerial meeting on immigration postponed

A foreign ministers' meeting between Malta, Libya and Italy, due to be held next Friday, has been postponed because the Libyan foreign minister has other diplomatic commitments.

The meeting, which was to have been held in Malta, would have grouped Libyan Foreign Minister Abdurrahaman Mohamed Shalgam, Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini and Foreign Minister Tonio Borg. They were to discuss illegal immigration.

The meeting is expected to be held at a later date.

It is as plain as daylight that the Libyans are taking everyone for a ride.

What is even more interesting is that Joseph Muscat and the PL are in favour of illegal immigrants as long as they are men above a certain age.

Prof Victor Zammit !!!

I was talking about the LIBYANS!!! And you really think if we discuss immigration with them immigrants stop coming here?
P Debono (on 3/12/08)
Unbelievable! And Mintoff called these people our blood brothers!!! Not to mention tried to get Arabic as our second language!!!! Thank God we've moved forward from those dark days.

We have to help ourselves.
No point in expecting help from Libya.
Libya is responsible for the problem and wants to get rid of the illegal immigrants on its territory.
We just have to stop the invasion.

Please have a look at the map. Whom would you suggest Mr. Tonio to discuss immigrants with?
J. Spiteri (on 3/12/08)
As long as 'the colonel' is in power, there is no chance at all of resolving the problem of illegal immigration. His intentions are all very well known ; except by some individuals.
