Warmer, drier November

November was slightly warmer and drier than the norm, the Meteorological Office said yesterday in its monthly report.

There were also nine days of thunderstorms, again, slightly more than usual.

Rainfall meanwhile amounted to 86.4 millimetres, less than the 30-year average by 18.3 millimetres.

However, the mean temperature was 17.9oC, slightly warmer than the 30-year average.

The same applied for the recorded mean day maximum (20.6oC) and the mean night minimum (15.2oC).

Moreover, the average wind speed at the airport was 7.4 knots, a typical average value for the month, said the Met. office. The most frequent direction was southwest and the strongest gust (45 knots from west-northwest) was recorded on the November 22.
