Privilege complaint against Austin Gatt to be debated tomorrow
A breach of privilege complaint against Communications Minister Austin Gatt raised by former Opposition leader Alfred Sant is to be debated by the Privileges Committee of the House of Representatives tomorrow.
Dr Sant had raised a privilege complaint when Dr Sant denied claims made by Dr Gatt in Parliament that he had information about the MITTS hacking inquiry and had tried to spin the story to a newspaper so as to mislead investigations.
This is the first case the privileges committee is consider during this legislature. The committee is chaired by the Speaker of the House, Louis Galea, and is made up of two members from each side.

@abela, and grech
it seems that truth hurts. PN won the election. PN got more votes than MLP ( uuppss sorry now PL ) We are governing not dictating, but we have also the right for the last word. MLP knows well what dictatorship is, and please we do not want your advise about it, cos the Maltese people does not want that.
i think that you're pretending too much. If you feel like that by not partecipating you will be in a better position to critisize, so please yourself, but it will be your loss.
by the way the example re juve and milan was patetic. It reflects exactly your poor level of conversational skills.
my friends , i think you're both still under the "earthquake" shock.
relax !
relax.

@ Anton Vella - Politicians are representatives of the people. The majority of the people didn't vote for this government. This simply means that PN are representing a minority of people and yet they are still governing (dictating) our people. How democratic is that? Let me give you a clear example so maybe your closed blue mind can understand better....AC Milan plays a match against Juve. The score is AC Milan 2 - Juventus 1. Who won the match? You will say that Juve won the match because the previous season they 3 wonderful goals? Or will you say that Juve won the match because their supporters were singing better songs the Milan supporters?

War of words. Tempest in a tea cup. Trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill, Dr. Sant?
Let more futile words flow.

Do you mean that who ever wins an election (even without the majority of the population,) automatically becomes a MINI DICTATOR? Do you really believe that our present government is one such thing? Is that your DEMOCRACY?. Please explain.

Didn't Alf Sant know of the composition of the Committee when he raised the breach of privilege? Of course he did. That didn't stop him from complaining.
He certainly didn't know of the rediculous predictions made by fanatical apologists when the the debate hasn't actually started.
As Babs rightly states 'there is no limit for stupid people's judgements and verdicts.'
People's courts should be found only in huistory books.

If any person thinks that it shall result in DR.Sant favour, he better thinks again.
As somebody it shall be decided in Dr.Gatt favour 3-2.
Who said that democracy is the best solution?

We all know the integrity of both persons involved. I lost count how many fines did Dr. A. Gatt had to pay to Dr. A.Sant, because he was found guilty by our courts. This time I am more than 100% convinced that Dr.Sant is totally right. As for Dr. Gatt, It is in his nature to speak before he thinks, and I am sure that he do not means what he says, But I wish to see that one day somebody will teach him a lesson, and will make him swallow his own words in public, go for it Tonio, make my day ?*?*?*

sometimes I wonder whether people understand that to lead a country you need a government who will be able to take decisions, and have the right ( because they won a democratic election) to have the magority in decision making structures.
the party in government must have this right, and its useless to pretend that from the opposition someone will be in a position to dectate the government what to do .
to have that privilage you must win an election.
