Man pleads not guilty to causing grievous injuries

23-year-old George Falzon of Qormi has pleaded not guilty to causing grievous injuries to Doris Debono in Żebbuġ last Sunday.

Defense lawyer Veronique Dalli said the two were fighting in a shop and Ms Debono told Mr Falzon that she was his cousin. The man she was with allegedly asked Mr Falzon if he remembered trying to run him over with his horse.

Mr Falzon told the court he did not know the woman.

Police inspector Tony Cachia said it seemed from his investigations that the incident followed a build-up of tension between the two.

He was granted bail against a personal guarantee of €2,000 and a deposit of €200.
