Students' two months down the drain
When Labour MP Evarist Bartolo objected to the tendering process vis-à-vis IT at Mcast a police investigation was ordered. It has now transpired that there were absolutely no irregularities in the tendering process and unfortunately our students lost two academic months, never to be regained, for no valid reason. Days have passed since the conclusions of the investigations were made public but Mr Bartolo has remained mum. The decent thing he should have immediately done is apologise to all the students who were negatively affected by his suspicions.

Those who argue against the irregularities being brought to light apparently do not have any relatives who need easy access to their classrooms. Alright me ........ all. Those who condone corruption are all ...lovers of corruption !!!!!!

The bottom line is that the Govt bent backwards to accommodate these students as otherwise they had not chance of starting their course this year as MCAST had it s full share of students and then all hell broke down. As usual the opposition, in the form of one member or the other had to find something to stall this initiative. The net result the students suffered. Thanks Avarist.

Carlo; read my comment again because i never said he ordered one.
Just face it; he wanted to prosecute and its been PROVEN that he can't. Whats all your hoo ha about? We all already knew that tendering processes are a farce, people lie and collude in them all the time, so thats hardly an excuse to use to try and justify the time these students have had to wait is it ?

Evarist Bartolo did not order a police inquiry, he asked for one (its funny how before the election everyone trusted in police enquiries but it seems now when the opposition asks for an inquiry its viewed as creating unnecessary problems)
The minister odered the inquiry and as it transpired 2 people will be taken to court for illegal declarations! Have you not noticed that? probably not as you all sit passing these same letters and comments between you all! If you are happy that people gain advantage by giving false information then let them be. Its your taxes!

Students were promised by the government that time will be made up! Hope they stick to their promise but don't hold your breath, or elxe they cannot blame the opposition for all their failings!

Well said Janet, and to all you labour-loving commentors; would you really be happy if you were a student, eager to start your course after working so hard to get the qualifications to do it, and then a Labour MP launches a police investigation, preventing the course from going ahead for months and moths?
In the mean-time you are in limbo, your skills and knowledge starting to evaporate at exactly the time they should be being improved....Mr Bartolo launched a police investigation to try and prosecute for wrong-doing, NOTHING worth prosecuting has been found; therefore he should appologise to all those teens who he kept waiting for NOTHING.
But then again, do we really expect a Labour MP to do anything apart from what comes naturally to them? No chance.
Its the Students who i feel sorry for.

Obeying instructions? Or chain letters?This is the second letter demanding an apology on the part of Mr. E. Bartolo. Shall we read others?, Could very well be. Irregularities are not to be pointed out lest you are listed as putting spokes in the wheels of the P.N. Government when mishandling important decisions. These are no news but a confirmation of indulging in abuses without fear of a Government reaction. Was it not The Prime Minister Dr. Gonzi who came out first with such a comment.

It is irresponsible of talking like that on Hon Bartolo. He did the right way - things should have been done correctly in the first instance. Here were are talking of thousands of € from our own pockets and so he did the right thing of pointing that out.

You do not apologize for carrying out your duty towards the taxpayers.
You apologize if you allow a board to change the marks so that companies who did not qualify will then qualify. Then you make sure that the board is held accountable for its actions.
By the way, didn't you hear about the police taking action against two of the companies for supplying false information?
