Obituary

ASPHAR. On NOVEMBER 30, 2008 at Villa M.ssma Annunziata, Balzan, Sr Evelina, of the Sisters of Charity, aged 82, passed peacefully away to meet the Risen Lord comforted by the rites of the Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity, her sisters Tarry and Madeline, her brother Bernard and his wife Louise, and her sisters-in-law Denise, Gill, Paula and Ann, nephews, nieces, and other relatives and friends. R.I.P. Mass praesente cadavere will be celebrated today at 9 a.m. at the chapel of the convent of the Sisters of Charity at Balzan followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery.

CAMILLERI. On November 29, at Mater Dei Hospital, RINALDO k/a LEONARD, widower of Miriam née Tabone, of Cospicua residing at Fgura, aged 77 yrs, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss, his children Mario and his wife Patricia, Monica and her husband Paul, Patrick and his wife Silvana, Alida and her husband Alex, grand children Nadia and her boyfriend Keith, Lara, Luke, Alison, Claire and Andre, his sister Hilda, his in-laws and their respective spouses and families, nephews and nieces, relatives and friends.

The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 8 a.m. for Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish church in Fgura where mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8.30 a.m., followed by interment in the family grave at Żabbar Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the Puttinu Cares Foundation will be greatly appreciated. Lord grants him eternal rest.

COSTER. On November 29, at St Vincent de Paul, JOSEPHINE, widow of the late Thomas, aged 86, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her daughter Mary and her husband Mr Justice Joseph Galea Debono, Vivienne and her husband Dr Martin Said, her son Alfred and his wife Sylvana, her grandchildren Veronica and her husband Ewout, Fiona, John and his wife Pippa, Edward, Maurice and Ben. Mass praesente cadavere will be said at Mosta parish church today, at 3.30 p.m., followed by interment at Mosta Cemetery. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

Course on gilding

The Malta Society of Arts Manufactures and Commerce will be organising a course on gilding. The course has two levels, beginners and intermediate.

The beginners course will teach the basics of the art of gilding while the intermediate will go into more detail regarding various types of gilding.

The course will be held in the evenings and will run over 10 lessons, of two hours each, once a week stating in January.

Baroque recital

Dorothy Baldacchino will be interpreting a selection of Baroque songs and arias for soprano by Handel, Pergolesi, Paisello and Purcell on Thursday at St Catherine of Italy church, Valletta at 12.30 p.m.

Ramona Zammit Formosa will be accompanying on period instruments including the harpsichord and an 18th century pianoforte.

Proceeds from this recital will go to the restoration fund of the St Catherine of Italy church.

SLIEMA LOCAL PLANS

The Sliema local council has invited the public to submit their views and suggestions on any possible amendments to the town's local plans, which are being reviewed by the Malta Environment and Planning Authority.

The plans can be seen at the council's offices on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. and 2.15 to 5 p.m. or at www.mepa.org.mt.
