Senglea council wins EU award

Labour leader Joseph Muscat heaped praise on the people of Cottonera after the Senglea council won the Intercultural Dialogue Regional Championship Award 2008 given by the EU Regional Council.

Senglea council managed to tap into EU funds to hold an intercultural dialogue with refugees residing at the open centres, Maltese professionals and foreign nationals living in Cottonera.

The first session involved children from the primary school, Junior Lyceum and refugees invited to participate in the debate.

The Opposition Leader referred to the usual negative stories associated with the south of Malta adding that this award proves that the people of Cottonera are able to take initiative that is worthy of recognition on both a national and international level.
