Rudolph Cini gets the chop
The Malta Union of Midwives and Nurses has decided to remove former president Rudolph Cini from the post of honorary president, The Times has learnt.
The union's council met on November 21 to discuss Mr Cini's future after he questioned hard-hitting directives which could have had serious consequences for patients.
Maryanne Bugeja, the union's former treasurer, said she had been told of the decision by MUMN president Paul Pace when she asked him if she could help remedy the situation.
When contacted Mr Cini said he did not agree with the decision and will today be calling publicly for Mr Pace's resignation.
The former president had questioned whether the union should have ordered tough directives following a poorly attended rally for members. Hospital Superintendent Frank Bartolo had warned that patients needing urgent renal dialysis could die if nurses followed the directives.

Rudolph Cini clearly has his priorities mixed...
His baby is now Pn Candidacy, and not trade union advancement,
What is strange that a number of people who in the past have heavily criticised GWU's past politcal affiliations, are now backing a person who has an obvious political agenda!!!!!

MUMN should not side to a political party, even if the person is a nurse. He is free to contest with the nationalist party, but MUMN is there to improve the working condition so eventually we will have a quality. Mr.Cini should not pretend any help from MUMN in his campaign. Well done nurses.

Removed for expressing his opinion!!!!!!!!!
Mr. Pace. If you recall well, we fought hard for our democracy. People died in the fight for our freedom of speech. If this is true, you should resign immediately

He got what he deserved. He should have never publicly interfeered now that he is a polititian on the goverments side. Had he been an EMP candidate for the labour party things would have been different. Being a candidate for the PN would naturally undermine his credibility.
I could never trust him were i a member of the MUMN.

SHAME on all members of the MUMN Council members who took the decision to remove former president Rudolph Cini from the post of honorary president, if the news is true. Haven't you realized that we are living in a free country where freedom of expression is sacred? Mr Paul Pace should resign. He is not fit to preside a free democratic Union. What a shame. I fully support Mr Cini's remarks.
