PL announces appointments
The Labour Party today announced the appointment of Kurt Farrugia as director of communications and Charlon Gouder as communications executive.
Mr Farrugia, a former editor of maltastar.com and deputy editor of the GWU weekly It-Torca, will be responsible for the development of a communications policy and related functions.
He will be assisted by former One News journalist Charlon Gouder.
Mark Farrugia, who has occupied the post of party media executive for 13 years, has been appointed personal assistant to party leader Joseph Muscat.
The party said the appointments formed part of a restructuring which started with the appointment of James Piscopo as party CEO.

'New' skin, old face.
My only comment is that if you believe that the appointment of a character like Charlon Gouder to a high post within PL is a farse, then you must admit that the appointment of Gordon Pisani to a high post within the Gvt (representing all Maltese) is a scandal!
How do you equate 'a breath of fresh air' with Charlon Gouder?
@ Randolph De Battista
You wrote: "Mr Farrugia has been doing a hell of a great job in Maltastar" You could fool some who have never read Maltastar!
And..." Mr Gouder is by far one of the best investigative journalists on the island". Using Mr. Gouder as a yardstick to measure investigative journalists on the island will certainly hurt the feelings of much more capable individuals who have been respected for their work for many years. Mr. Gouder, the master of interruptions will do well to disappear from the scene and enjoy inflating his ego behind a well polished desk in a secluded office somewhere in Marsa.
These appointments are not for posts in the civil service or in the public sector. These are posts in the Labour Party. Now if you expect people working in the media of the Labour party to be Nationalists or moderates, think again, we're living in Malta!
Muscat is clearly showing that he means business and the change within the Labour party is a breath of fresh air to Maltese politics. The rise of the PL is similar to the rise of the PN pre-1987.
The PL has every right to critise the Nationalist Government for appointinh Blue-Eyes Only for PIUBLIC Appointmentys and not appointments within the PN.
It appears that you have nothing to critise LP on.
Does Mr Farrugia's appointment mean that GWU is evenmore MLP's privileged partner?
For transparency's sake...can we see the new emblem?
One good thing has emerged from all this; we will be spared Charlon's antics in running after people asking questions.
Mr Farrugia has been doing a hell of a great job in Maltastar for the past years, Mr Gouder is by far one of the best investigative journalists on the island, with loads of experience and together I think they will make a very good team.
Mr M Farrugia then is one of the best resources in Labour and will suit the post perfectly.
Congratulations and good work guys!
