Eviction notices for Fort St Elmo squatters issued
Inspectors from the Government Properties Division this afternoon issued eviction notices to squatters at Fort St Elmo and the Yellow Garage area in Valletta.
Informed sources said the notices do not apply to carnival float makers who have a permit from the government to operate from Lower Fort St Elmo.
Sections of the fort have, however, been taken over by people without title, some of them to house dogs or use rooms as garages or stores.

Let's not tarnish a good move by the government by causing suffering to the poor dogs. Many were waiting for this moment but if the dogs should fall victim innocently the liberation of St. elmo would become a blot instead of a triumph.

How very uncivic!! Let's do this right by removing all dogs and move to or provide a proper sanctuary elsewhere. Dogs on the loose can be a danger to the public anyway! Re squatters.. no point in charging now just evict as soon as possible.

Well Done Dr. Azzopardi!
I am waiting for the Armier squatters in due course! I understand that it will be hard but they have still taken over OUR land!

Oh no. we do not care where the dogs will be housed. They can roam like hundred of other roaming dogs do. If we have an overpopulation of roaming dogs, let's put them to sleep but no excuses this time. This Junior Minister really means business,. Prosit. The Army will very soon take over at St Elmo and no one - no one will be allowed to continue to squat on government (Our) property. No one will be allowed inside st elmo.

I suggest we should just evict. They should be made to pay a reasonable rent for the time they spent there.

about time! i hope before the squatters leave they will remove the brick walls they built in the vaults, and take away the horses, hens and dogs with them.
Aparts from this, I remember Tonio Borg saying before the election that the Police Academy will move to Hal Far. When will this happen?

After the eviction process ends, what will happen to the dogs, left outside with no body to take care of them?
