Archbishop Paul Cremona encouraged children and youngsters to take a more active leading role in their communities, praising the strength and vigour of youth.

In a pastoral letter dedicated to all youngsters and young people, the Archbishop recounted St Paul's story, emphasising how, even as a child, the saint was dedicated to what he believed in and was willing to make sacrifices to ensure that he succeeded.

He said that young people, taking St Paul's example, must embrace their spirit of youth and draw energy from it. As St Paul saw the light after a period of blindness, many seek out spiritual guidance during periods of difficulty. In these dark times, he said, it is easier to see the light. In humdrum routine, however, where one is content with mediocrity and does as little as possible to get by, it is harder to see the light.

Like St Paul's unyielding dedication to what he believed in and fought for, young people should be the driving force behind the Christian Church and communities, bringing about change around them which reflects the change that goes on within them as they grow, said the Archbishop.
