Gozitan conductor Colin Attard and his son, violinist Jean Noël, took part in the Rencontres Musicales des Méditerranée held in Corsica recently.

Ensembles from Italy, France, Portugal, Spain, Egypt, Greece, Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco took part in the tenth edition of the festival.

For Mro Attard, this was his sixth year at the festival, whereas Jean Noel returned to the festival after he first took part in 2004.

Besides giving various performances in several venues, all the participants joined forces for a gala evening at Bastia's Municipal Theatre.

The Attards performed Xejriet, a suite in three movements for violin and piano, composed by Colin's brother Stephen.

The second part of the concert consisted of a grand finale with most participants forming a 70-piece orchestra, partly under the direction of Mro Attard.
