Parents whose children go to the Eden Foundation do not want the organisation to merge with another without their approval.
They insisted in a meeting yesterday evening that Eden should retain its identity and independence.
The parents agreed that the Eden Foundation should cooperate with other organisations, foundations or institutions especially those involved in the education and training for an independent life and productive employment.
They called on the trustees not to betray the ideals of the foundation and called on them to unite with them to face and overcome all difficulties and once again make Eden an example of progress in the education of children with mental disabilities.
Trustees who were opposing the merge of the foundation should not give in unless they had the parents' approval, they said. The parents promised that once this issue was solved they would be with these trustees to help them make out of Eden a fortress of learning for children with mental disabilities. They would also work with them to find funds for this education to be free.
The parents appealed to the board of trustees not to take decisions on the future of Eden before consulting the parents' association.
