Team B, captained by Lonia Carabott, deservedly won the sixth Pear Simpatia Crai tournament for teams at the Tennis Club Kordin (TCK). Her players dominated the qualifying round and were the most consistent outfit throughout.

This year's tournament attracted 132 players, 78 men and 54 women.

The final was contested by Team B and Team E, of Mary Xuereb. Both sides matched each other tie for tie. With the score 7-5 in favour of Carabott's team, the whole issue depended on the last rubber, that of Men's A between Bradley Callus/Martin Zammit and Manuel Bonello/Robert Attard. Team B required one set from this rubber to claim the title while Team E needed two sets with a difference of four games to finish first.

At the end of a tight first set, Callus won set point to send his Team B colleagues in ruptures. The second set was not played.

Team D, of Monica Grech, beat Marco Ricci's Team F in the play-off for third place.
