The Ministry for Resources and Rural Affairs yesterday lowered to €1,000 the threshold of investment for farmers to qualify for EU funds.

Although it was originally announced that farmers must spend at least €5,000 on improving their farms to apply for EU funds, the ministry decided to lower the bar after consulting agricultural associations. The ministry has also extended the deadline for applications to January 30 to allow more farmers to apply.
