In plain English

Allow me to share with some of The Times' contributors what Churchill once said:

"What if I had said, instead of 'we shall fight on the beaches', 'hostilities will be engaged with our adversary on the coastal perimeter'?" To be kept in mind - it would make my bedtime reading that much easier!

What has respect to do with the price of butter?? and anyway he did call him a guru, didn't he? If it's the bed sheet you're worried about, you wouldn't want Gandhi to take it off would you!
JPS's observation, and the way he portrays it is very pertinent. Some contributors whirl and wind in verbigeration till they make you give up reading.

'someone who shows respect to all,all the time' phew, that's a tall order!

Churcill once referred , irreverantly, to Gandhi: as a guru wrapped in a bed sheet. So please, quote us something from someone who shows respect to all, all the time. thanks
