Obituary

BORG. On November 25, at St Vincent de Paul residence, ANNUNZIATA of Valletta, widow of Assuero, aged 94, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Joe, Maria, widow of Pitro Monteleone, Romeo and his wife Carmen, Anthony and his wife Josette, Lydia and her husband Moses, grandchildren, brother and sisters, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves St Vincent de Paul residence tomorrow at 8 a.m. for the Annunciation parish church, Balzan, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8.30 a.m.

CARUANA. On November 25, at Mater Dei Hospital, CARMEN, née Vassallo Cole, passed away at the age of 81. She leaves to mourn her irreparable loss her husband Joseph of N. Caruana & Sons Ltd, Merchants Street, Valletta, her beloved children Lilian, Mario, Anthony, Miriam, Anna and Peter-Paul, their respective spouses and families, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Mass praesente cadavere will be celebrated today at 8.30 a.m. at Christ the King parish church, Paola, followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. May God grant her eternal rest.

MICHAEL. Peacefully, on November 25, at Mater Dei Hospital, ELIZABETH, beloved widow of Iori, a beloved mother, sister and friend, aged 91.

SGHENDO. On November 11, at Mater Dei Hospital, HENRY of Sliema, aged 69, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Diane, his children John, Nicola, Michael and Michelle, and their respective families in England, his brothers Raymond, Noel, Vince and Joe and their respective wives and families, besides aunties, uncles, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei hospital tomorrow at 2 p.m. for Stella Maris parish church, Sliema, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m., followed by interment in the family vault at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated.

Requiem Masses

Tomorrow being the second anniversary of the death of JACKIE MALLIA, née Mizzi, the 7 p.m. Mass at St Patrick's church, Sliema, will be offered for the repose of her soul. The attendance of relatives and friends will be appreciated.

Tomorrow's 7.45 a.m. Mass at Lapsi church, St Julians, will be offered for the repose of the soul of SPIRIDIONE PORTELLI on his anniversary.

The American International Women's Association

The American International Women's Association collected €8,625.67 (Lm3,703) during 2007 and donated the funds to charitable institutions and other philanthropic causes in Malta.

Edenfest winners

Two motor scooters won during Edenfest, a 12-hour telethon held on September 28, were presented to the winners at the Gasan showroom in Mrieħel.

Gasan Enterprises managing director David Gasan and Eden Foundation executive fund-raiser Doreen Borg presented the prizes to Paul Fenech and his wife Doreen and to Daniela Cini.

Aid for victims

The Malta Cuba Society raised €685 in aid of the Hurricane Reconstruction Fund in Cuba, which has suffered damage by hurricanes Gustav and Ike.

Piano contest

The Fourth International Piano Competition will be held in Cercola, Italy between March 5 and 7 and is open to all pianists born after January 1, 1974.

Application forms, together with an enrollment fee of €70, must be sent by January 15.

Fr Martin Caruana Prize

Dominican priest Fr Ugo Cremona was this week awarded the Fr Martin Caruana Prize in recognition of his ecumenical work in Maltese society. The presentation was made during a ceremony at St Domenic's church in Rabat.

Rabat activities

The L'Isle Adam Band Club will be holding a day of activities on Sunday at Palazzo Xara in Rabat from 9 a.m. There will be stalls selling plants and toys as well as an exhibition, ganutell and paintings.
