The Land Department yesterday went out of its way to prove that, like justice, it is blind, and started tearing up a road built illegally in Gozo by the government itself.

In 2006, a secondary road in Għajnsielem had been widened without the required permits.

The Malta Environment and Planning Authority served the Commissioner of Land with an enforcement notice after it turned out that the work had been done by government workers.

The works in 2006 were carried out by the Projects and Development Department of the Ministry for Gozo, which will now be billed by the division for the restoration of the area.
