Performers are warming their vocal chords and stretching their muscles as they prepare for Journey Evolution, a show that promises a spectacular evening in aid of charity.

Under the artistic and music direction of Ruth Casingena, Journey Evolution will be held at the Hilton Malta on December 6 with proceeds going to Puttinu Cares Children's Cancer Foundation.

Following the success of last year's show, this year's Journey promises to be bigger and better and Ms Casingena has roped in 160 performers, a variety of talent, elements of solo voice, two choirs - an adult and a children's choir - musicians, actors and dancers.

The team has come together to project the evolvement of all these styles, a unique experience for both performers and the audience. It ties in with the purpose behind Journey Movement, an organisation which Ms Casingena founded.

Ms Casingena has dedicated her life to music and the theatre and has a great passion for interpretation and the quest of the individual self.

"We will be fusing different elements of music from harp, to piano, percussion and voice, drama and dance to present them in both an authentic form and the journey they've evolved into," she said.

The show focuses on the uniqueness of the individual and paves the way for self-expression, recognition and identity, while integrating humanity and art.

The artistic repertoire of this year's show ranges from the classical and sacred genres, to musical theatre, pop and contemporary form.

Launched in June 2007, the choir embraces people from different walks of life with a passion for art and a variety of talents.

Journey Evolution embraces a professional team of artists who have come together to work towards this year's production namely Peter Howitt, overall artistic director and lighting/set designer; Peter Busuttil, assistant director; Polly March, drama director; Carmel Duca, director of choreography; Joseph Abela, designer; Limelight Costumes; and Karen Schembri Grima, make-up designer.

Tickets at €18, €22, €25 and €35 go on sale tomorrow from Visco (former Exotique), City Gate, Valletta, or by calling on 7958 5485.
