First of all, I would like to congratulate the government for the brilliant idea of transport reform.
We have a serious problem in Mosta. I have been complaining to the local council and the transport authorities for the last three years and never received any feedback. A shame, as they are there to serve the citizen.
I am a student who at 6 a.m. has to walk for 25 minutes to catch a bus and go to school. We students living in Blata l-Għolja area and Independence Avenue have to walk all the way to the square to catch the bus that goes to Birkirkara, Msida and on to Valletta. Imagine how wet we get when it rains.
And that is just the beginning. At the square all the buses passing by are full, then there are traffic jams in Lija and Birkirkara, so we end up being late for our lectures at Junior College and University.
This is not only a problem for students but also for the other people living in the area, especially the elderly and disabled.
These people, such as my wheelchair-bound grandmother, find it very difficult to go all the way to the square, especially when passing cars splash rainwater all over them.
Therefore, I would like to suggest that a new bus route be introduced that would pass from Independence Avenue to Valletta. This would surely solve a problem for all the residents in the area and they would also use their cars less often.
I hope my suggestion is taken up so that finally we can truly say "b' tal-linja, jaqbillek" - it pays you to catch a bus!
